Research
Young Living continually conducts university
research on the antibacterial and therapeutic
properties of essential oils. In 1997 Gary Young
authored a paper published in the Journal
of Essential Oil Research on the ability
of essential oils to kill common harmful bacteria.
In1998 Sue Chao published research on the of the
same essential oils to destroy colonies of S.
pneumonia, a microbe responsible for throat and
lung infection.
Oils such as peppermint, have been reviewed for
their ability to block pain reduce headaches (Gobel
et al.,1995), combat indigestion, enhance mental
alertness (Dember et al.,1994), induce weight
loss (Hirsch, 1995), and kill and repel lice (Veal,
1996). Lavender oil has been examined for its
role in inducing relaxation (Hirsch, 1991), counteracting
travel sickness (Bradshaw et al.,1997), combat
fungus (Nenoff et al.,),reducing blood cholesterol
(Nikolaevskii et al.), protection of blood vessels
(Siurin et al.,). Clove oil has en researched
as a dental antiseptic (ai et al., 1996), anti-fungal
agent (Covello et al., 1966), blood anticoagulant,

the most rigorous quality control systems for
essential oils in the industry. Every batch of

Medical Applications
Dr. Jean Valnet witnessed unnecessary death of
injured soldiers in the French Army during WWII
, due to the shortages of antibiotics and antiseptics.
As an alternative he began treating injured patients
with essential oils. he discovered that the oils
were highly effective in reducing and controlling
infections, permitting him to save the lives of
any soldiers who otherwise would have perished.
Dr. Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, a French cosmetic
chemist, suffered severe burns on his hands during
a laboratory accident in 1910. With the frequent
application of lavender oil, the burn healed without
a scar.
Dr. Terry Friedmann, MD., has recently completed
pioneering studies using essential oils to combat
ADD and ADHD. Using twice a day inhalation of
essential oils including vetiver, cedarwood, and
lavender, Dr. Friedmann was able to achieve clinically
significant results in 60 days. Researchers postulate
that essential oils, mitigate ADD and ADHD through
their stimulation on the limbic system of the
brain.
Superfoods
Chinese Wolfberries:
Chinese wolfberries grow in a remote area of central
China near Inner Mongolia. Considered a treasure
by the local people, they have been studied by
Chinese physicians for thousands of years. One
Chinese Medica dating back 2,000 years cites their
use in treatments ranging from replenishing vital
essences to strengthening and restoring major
organs.(1,2)
More recently, comprehensive analyses
have found that wolfberries contain 18 types of
amino acids, 21 trace minerals, 29 fatty acids,
vitamins B1, B2, B6, E, more beta carotene than
carrots, more Vitamin C than oranges, and as much
protein as bee pollen. What's more, they are a
source of superoxide dismutase and phenylpropanoids.
Numerous studies by the Chinese government have
shown that Chinese wolfberries are extremely useful
for boosting the immune system, protecting the
liver, improving the quality of blood, and improving
vision.(3,4,5,6)
Berry Young Juice: Encouraged
by the prospect of an all-natural, good-tasting
substance that could be so helpful in improving
health, Gary determined to find ways to share
the benefits of the wolfberry with people everywhere.
Young Living Essential Oils, the largest importer
of wolfberries in the world, now offers the power
of wolfberries as a delicious, refreshing beverage.

Drinking a single ounce of Berry Young Juice
every day and watch the difference of providing
your body with rich nutrients that are so easily
assimiable!
Antioxidants vs. Free Radicals:
Our bodies are bombarded daily by the damaging
effects of free radicals that are created through
normal metabolic functions. In fact, Dr. Bruce
Ames of the University of California at Berkeley
estimates that the DNA of each of our cells is
attacked by free radicals over 10,000 times per
day. Added to that is the polluted environment
we inhabit in today's world, which increases the
scope of the problem. Uninterrupted, free radicals
can wreak havoc with DNA, enzymes, and cells. Many
chronic conditions—including aging—are
believed to result from accumulated damage caused
by free radicals. Fortunately, antioxidants have
proven an effective weapon against them.
High ORAC foods:
"Young and middle-aged people may be able to reduce
risk of disease by adding high ORAC foods to their
diets," states Floyd P. Horn, Administrator of
the Agricultural Research Service, the chief scientific
agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Antioxidants help neutralize the effects of free
radicals, allowing the body to restore itself
to the proper balance that leads to health and
well-being.
